Professor Simon Clarke

Professor Simon Clarke, MBBS, FCP, FRACP, FACPM, FASHM, is a Developmental Paediatrician. He completed his research at Harvard in ADHD and in learning difficulties in children and adolescents. In 1980 whilst still at Harvard, he was awarded the “Young Investigator Award” for his research into adolescent learning difficulties.

On his return to Australia he established, at Westmead Hospital, a Learning Difficulties/ADHD Clinic with a team of psychologists and speech therapists treating children and young people.

He founded an Adolescent Unit containing Australia’s first 27 bed ward which became known as a Centre of Excellence for Managing Adolescents, including those with eating disorders, both in the ward and as outpatients.

Subsequently he founded the Centre for Research into Adolescents” Health (CRASH) with Dame Marie Bashir A.C. as patron. The Centre has received numerous grants and produced over 80 papers and book chapters.

He is a trained Family Therapist and utilises this as an essential addition to his management of families and young people.

– Family Therapy for families and children, adolescents and young people
– Counselling of adolescents and young adults
– Gender dysphoria
